Georges Seurat

I'm interested here in Seurat's strategies for looking at the process of looking. Note the painted frames on some canvases. Not only was Seurat exploring the dynamic mental process of apprehending color and value, but also the tropes of picture-making from the natural world and picture-looking. He is taking ownership of the conventions of his craft by integrating this craft's cliché forms of pictorial organization into his conceptual explorations.
